Greetings Dan: During my famous Days, as a High School Basketball Star at little Liberty-Eylau High School, I played many, many “pick-Up’ games at the Southwest Center recreation Center, in Texarkana, Texas. The Center was well known, and Players from Liberty-Eylau, Texarkana High School, and Arkansas High School played and toured the Southwest Center, and many of them measured their Success, by “beating that Reece kid”..I had MY many, many levels of Successes, At That Southwest Center, and when I relocated to Dallas, Texas, I also had much Success at the Red Bird Rec. Center, the Singing Hills Rec. Center, The Saner Rec. Center, the Forest Hills Rec Center, and even More Rec Centers around Dallas, even won a Charity Tournament, with my Small Business “RHINOS” Buddies, at the old age of 35, in a Tournament that WE sponsored for the “Boys And Girls Club” in Garland, against Much younger, more Athletic players..(we won with experience and smart “T.E.A.M.” play) OK, I watched many of these Players and even played against the likes of Spud Webb, Rolondo Blackmon, Roy Tarply, Mark Aguire, Michael Williams, and many more, as some of them, played “pick-Ups” ate the various Rec. Centers.. Michael’s “T.E.A.M. (#1. Himself..Michael J., #2. Scottie Pippen, #3. Magic Johnson, #4. Hakeem Olajuwon, #5. James Worthy…You need 1 more player Michael?? Who is it??for your “Reserve, #6″?? Michael’s “Pick-Up” T.E.A.M.” has no outside, “sharp Shooter(s)”, except himself, But I consider him and Scottie as “Slashers, Drivers”…..Hakeem is great, BUT Bill Russell will neutralize him…BIG BILL will Control that Middle, he was “So Powerful within The Paint, IT will be very, very Difficult for Hakeem, or anyone else to come into that area….Lebron will hold his own with Magic, (basically a Bigger, Stronger, Faster combination of magic and Michael)…Worthy will have “ZERO” (0) Chance against “DR. J., and although Scottie is bigger than Stephen, there is No way he could run around those picks and screens to stay with such a “Sharp Shooter” as Stephen….Larry certainly could Not defense Michael, but we would switch that match up on defense and utilize a lot of “Help” defense, and as I said, Michael better NOT Invade the Paint, with Big Bill Controlling That Area..BILL could Start more Fast Breaks, with his block Shots than anyone ever, and i mean EVER!! The ©MAKE-IT, TAKE-IT Game rules apply!
So, I’m not Playing this Time, BUT..”I GOT NEXT” In those days, “If” we played full court, we used “6″ Players, so that we had at least 1 player to relieve anyone, whenever tired. “IF” we played Half Court, “3″ or “4″ players. I won a couple of “3-on-3″ Tournaments, during my times…BUT the main thing in “Pick-UP” Play is to get up on the Court, and win All day, or Afternoon, and I did My Share of That, too! (SMILE)..Picking from the “100″ greatest Players Lists…make This “YOUR” ongoing “Possible EA Sports Fantasy Video game..Best Seller” where Players can choose from the “TOP 100″ within the Game!
Here is my “PROPOSAL to YOU!” Tell Michael J. that “I GOT NEXT”, and my T.E.A.M. is:..Drum Roll,,,,,: #1. Bill Russell, #2. Julius Erving (“DR. J”), #3. Lebron James, #4.Stephen Curry (I would have picked his Dad, another great “sharp-Shooter”, but I believe Stephen has a better all around game, and MANN he can really Shoot the ball)..#5. LARRY BIRD…and for my #6. (reserve)Dirk Nowitzki
WE have watched So, So many Great, Fantastic players, Willis Reed, George. “The ICE Man”, Jabar, Chamberlin, Shaq, “sthe Whole “Slammer-Jammer” group, “SKY-Jumper”, David Thompson (i watched him Eat Bil Bill Walton’s Lunch, during the NCAA Championships game)..Earl the Pearl, Pistol Pete . …There are just so many to choose from the !! 100-Tops!!
I really had a difficult time of picking my #6, between Dirk and Kevin Durant, ans between Tim Duncan and Larry Bird; but…Those are My Picks, and “I GOT NEXT!”
OK, so MICHAEL, “Lets do THIS!”…..I think We can take over the Court for the day…
